In the 2024 Australian Open final, Jannik Sinner defeats Novak Djokovic 6-1, 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3 to stop the Serbian’s quest for a record 25 Grand Slam singles championship.

The 10-time Australian Open champion was outmatched by the Italian, who jumped out to a commanding two-set lead. However, Djokovic battled back, saving a match chance to win the third set in a tiebreak. But in the fourth set, Sinner took control once more to win the match.

Sinner, who is seeded and ranked fourth, advances to his first Grand Slam final.

On Sunday, Sinner will face either Alexander Zverev or Daniil Medvedev in the championship match.

That concludes the matter.

What a fantastic outcome!

A 22-year-old who undoubtedly has the entire globe at his disposal abruptly ends Djokovic’s protracted reign down under.

After dominating the first two sets of today’s match, Sinner lost a closely contested third set, but he recovered magnificently to defeat Djokovic’s charge.

Unusual for him, Djokovic struggled today, making 54 unintentional mistakes and only winning 67 percent of his first serve points.

Sinner will now watch to see who emerges victorious from Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev, who will soon be eliminated from the men’s singles second semifinal.

“I was excited about this game.”

After the game, a clearly happy Sinner expressed his thoughts: It was a really difficult game. I had a great start. I got the impression from him that he wasn’t feeling well on the court since he missed the first two sets.

“I lost the set in the third set because I failed to hit that forehand in the tiebreak. I tried to get ready for the following group. It was such a terrific vibe to play in,” he continues.

“I was excited about this game. Having a player like this one to learn from is always beneficial. I took a lot of lessons from my Wimbledon semifinal loss the previous year.

“I’m not sure,” he replied when asked how to defeat Djokovic. We play [a] pretty similar [style of tennis], in my opinion. It is your task to attempt to return as many balls as you can. He’s a fantastic server. Simply attempted to push and shift him. I’d like to play him once more.

Sinner prevails!

Sinner hits a deep serve to the right.

He completes with a forehand down the left to tie the score at fifteen.

Sinner makes it 15–30 after completing his first double fault.

With a brilliant ace down the right side, he rebounds and leaves his opponent unfazed.

Sinner wins a second match point when Djokovic is unable to handle another wide serve.

Sinner finally dethrones the current Australian Open champion with a forehand winner down the right side to end the match.

Sinner 1-6, 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), Djokovic 3-6
