A joint statement from Governor Reynolds and 24 Republican governors endorsing the state of Texas’ constitutional right to self-defense
Together with 24 other Republican governors, Gov. Kim Reynolds released a statement today endorsing Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the state’s constitutional right to self-defense:
“Unprecedented levels of illegal immigration are flooding the Southern border, leaving Americans and our nation totally exposed to the actions of President Biden and his administration. The Biden Administration has targeted and sued Texas for taking action to defend American citizens from historically high levels of illegal immigration, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our nation, rather than maintaining the rule of law and safeguarding the border.
“We are united with our colleague governor, Greg Abbott, and the State of Texas in our commitment to border security, employing all available means and tactics, including razor wire barriers. We do this in part because the Biden administration is illegally granting mass parole to immigrants who entered the country illegally and is refusing to enforce immigration rules that are already in place.
The right of states to self-defense in such circumstances is explicitly stated by the writers of the U.S. Constitution in Article 4, Section 4 and Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3. Texas has every legal basis to defend the sovereignty of our states and our country as the Biden Administration has delegated its responsibilities under the constitutional bargain to the states.”
Governors Brad Little (ID), Eric Holcomb (IN), Jeff Landry (LA), Tate Reeves (MS), Mike Parson (MO), Greg Gianforte (MT), Jim Pillen (NE), Joe Lombardo (NV), Doug Burgum (ND), Mike DeWine (OH), Kevin Stitt (OK), Henry McMaster (SC), Kristi Noem (SD), Governor Bill Lee (TN), Governor Spencer Cox (UT), Governor Glenn Youngkin (VA), Governor Jim Justice (WV), and Governor Mark Gordon (WY) are among the other signatories.
